Early Covid Treatments - FAQs

Answers to frequently asked questions on early covid treatments

Are there any effective treatments of COVID-19?

Yes. There is now a large body of evidence that clearly demonstrates that the early treatment of Covid-19 can prevent serious illness and death.

There is now a large number of high quality studies that show that medications such as Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, when taken early in the illness (when symptoms first develop, ideally in the first 5 days) and in combination with other agents including zinc and azithromycin or doxycycline can prevent serious illness and even death.

Where can I find the studies that support early treatments?

The c19study.com website includes a growing number of multiple studies that show the early treatment of Covid-19 with Hydroxychloroquine is effective. It also summarizes more than 100 studies of HCQ, which are overwhelmingly positive particularly when HCQ is used early and in combination with zinc and azithromycin or doxycycline.

The website also has an up-to-date list of Covid treatment studies and information on various agents, including: Ivermectin, Vit D, Remdesivir, LY-CoV555 /LY-CoV016 neutralizing antibodies and REGN-COV2 (the artificial mixture of two monoclonal antibodies)

Another site is hcqmeta.com which has collated many of the Covid-19 treatment studies They claim:

  • HCQ is effective for COVID-19. The probability that an ineffective treatment generated results as positive as the121 studies to date is estimated to be 1 in 27 million (p = 0.000000037).
  • Early treatment is most successful, with 100% of studies reporting a positive effect and an estimated reduction of 63% in the effect measured (death, hospitalisation, etc.) using a random effects meta-analysis, RR 0.37 [0.29-0.48.

Are there any published 'early treatment protocols'?

Sadly there are no published early treatment guides to covid-19 in Australia. However, Dr Peter McCullough, from the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons (aapsonline.com), has produced a protocol for doctors to prescribe early treatments for Covid-19. The protocol can be accessed here or via the AAPS website link.

* Covid Medical Network Ltd cannot offically endorese this protocol or any of the medications contained within it. However we understand that it is being used to great effect in America.

This sounds interesting, but I don't have time to read all the studies. Do you have a summary or a video I can watch?

Yes. We would recommend the 'White Paper' published by the US Frontline Doctors group is a good summary of the Covid treatment studies. The document can be found here or at the USFL website here or download here.

  • Dr Peter McCullough's 20 minute video summary.
  • Interview with Dr Brian Tyson. He and his team in Southern California, are pioneers in the early treatment of Covid-19.
  • Australian Federal Liberal MP, Craig Kelly, passionately explains the evidence for early treatment of Covid-19.

Some models, such as reported in “Modelling transmission and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia” and “Report 13: Estimating the number of infections and the impact of nonpharmaceutical interventions on COVID-19 in 11 European countries” were notably complex and hence more prone to significant output errors.

If HCQ is so effective in early treatment of Covid-19, why was it banned in Australia ?

This is a very good question. A taskforce was set up to give recommendations and advice to the government. The group is known as the National Covid-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce. The group is led by Assoc Professor Julian Elliott of Monash University.

We understand that the ban recommended by the taskforce was based on eleven studies, most or all were flawed in their methodology of assessing the efficacy of the recommended early multi treatment protocols. Either HCQ was prescribed late in the course of the illness or it was not used in combination with other agents such as zinc and azithromycin and/or doxycycline.

We believe the decision now needs to be reexamined in the light of new available evidence.

However, the ban recommendation remains in place despite a well known and large body of evidence supporting its use.

Just as doctors in the US are legally challenging the ban on the early use of HCQ for Covid-19 illness, many believe there is grounds for a similar challenge in Australia. Many also believe that those responsible for continuing to recommend bans in light of the available evidence may be vulnerable to legal recrimination.

In Queensland, Australia, the use of Hydroxychloroquine has been criminalised to the extant that a doctor who, having been convinced of the value and effectiveness by the available evidence, were to prescribe this medication for his patients would be put in jail and/or fined $25,000.

These excessive and draconian laws need to be re-examined in the light of the current available evidence.

ABOUT COVID-19 MEDICAL NETWORK LTD

We are a group of senior medical doctors and health professionals who are concerned about the health impacts of the lockdowns used in response to the SARS-CoV-2 outbreaks in Victoria and across Australia.

We are also concerned about the lack of good information available to the general public and the misleading use of data. These factors have created an unwarranted state of fear in our community.

We aim to detail the harms of the lockdowns, describe clearly the virulence and risks of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, critique aspects of the management policies and make this information readily available to the general public.
